Today was our second full day of ministry here in the Dominican Republic, and we continue to be amazed by how God is working through our students. Once again, our teams spread out across several different ministry sites—some returned to construction projects, mixing cement and laying blocks to help build homes for families in need. Others spent the day running Vacation Bible School at local churches and schools, leading worship songs, telling Bible stories, and helping kids with crafts and games. A group also went into nearby communities to distribute food to families, praying over them and offering encouragement. One of the highlights for many students was visiting a local orphanage, where they spent time loving on the kids, playing kickball, holding hands, and simply being present with those who often don’t get much individual attention.
What’s been truly encouraging is watching our students serve with joy—even in the intense heat. Temperatures are high, and the work is physically and emotionally demanding, but our team has had amazing attitudes throughout it all. There’s a genuine excitement each morning to go out and serve, and so many students have expressed how much they love connecting with the kids here. Whether it’s through a game of “Pato Pato Ganzo” (duck duck goose), a shared smile, or a gospel conversation through a translator, they are pouring themselves out with joy and compassion. Each night, we gather for worship and teaching, and this week we’re walking through a series called Made to Magnify as we study the book of Colossians. Students are learning what it means to put aside themselves and make Jesus the center and focus of their lives—and we’re already seeing that truth come to life in how they serve, love, and lead each day.
