Invest your summer in reaching the nations for Christ alongside Johnson Ferry mission partners. During this seven-week adventure, you will be immersed in another culture while being mentored by veteran missionaries as you learn how to disciple others and use your gifts, passions, and skills for a greater purpose.

Spend your summer in the “Land of the Rising Sun,” where you will serve alongside JF Sent Ones in a variety of capacities in the mega-city of Tokyo. Service opportunities include a homeless ministry, a local church, gospel tract distribution, and connecting with young Japanese people. The Japanese are the second largest unreached people group in the world, with only 0.3% evangelical Christians among a population of 126 million. Truly, the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few!
POLAND

Spend time in European cafes on beautiful cobblestone streets making disciples of high school students who have recently said “yes” to Jesus in response to the Johnson Ferry Student Choir. You will spend mornings in local high schools assisting in English classrooms, walking with students in their new relationship with Christ, and partnering with local believers in leading a weekly bible club.
MIDDLE EAST

Be a part of the kingdom movement in this ancient city that is fertile ground for the gospel. You will play a vital role in the ministry by utilizing your digital communication skills and leadership development abilities. You will work closely with experienced Johnson Ferry Sent Ones to implement effective communication strategies on social media and website development while also engaging with local believers to equip them for leadership. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ministry while making a tangible impact on the lives of others.
SOUTH ASIA

Explore the Himalayan Mountains this summer, where you will find God’s beauty and splendor not only in nature but also among the tribal, unreached people groups. Along the ancient Silk Route, riding camels and drinking butter tea, and working with Johnson Ferry Sent Ones, where you will pray, walk throughout the land, and share the gospel with people who have never heard the name of Jesus.

Spend your summer on the Mediterranean coast in a beautiful city filled with warm, friendly people. You will spend part of your time in local preschools teaching English with music and fun activities. Then, along with the Johnson Ferry Sent Ones, you will explore the community, prayer walk, and look for opportunities to share the gospel and see lives changed.

Spend your summer in New York City partnering with Queens Church! You will spend time studying the neighborhood with the goal of identifying a ministry expression you create, lead, and hand off to a local leader before you leave. You will help lead mission teams around the neighborhood. There will be many opportunities for you to participate in or lead Bible studies, worship team, kids’ team, and even be involved in sermon series prep and team sermon writing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who will I be working with?
You will be working with Johnson Ferry Sent Ones and/or Johnson Ferry Supported Partners. Each JF Sent One or Supported Partner is well-seasoned in cross-cultural ministry and is excited to mentor you as you explore opportunities to partner with God to make Him known to all people.
How much will the trip cost?
Approximately $2500-$2800. The price will vary between locations. The price includes lodging, airfare, visa fees, meals, medical trip insurance, a cultural tour, and a team debrief. It does not include souvenirs, snacks, and personal expenses. We will be training and equipping you to fundraise as needed. Fundraising can look like mailing letters or meeting with people one-on-one. We will coach you through it!
What are the dates of the trip?
You will depart during the third week of May and return home during the second week of July. Exact dates to be determined at a later date.
Are there training requirements/meetings?
Yes! We want to ensure that you are fully equipped to flourish during your time as a Summer Sent One. We will meet regularly in the spring via Zoom to learn more about discipleship, evangelism, a theology of missions, cross-cultural ministry, and more.
We would also like for you to experience the MOVE Missions Conference (February 26-27, 2025), the Friday Night Dinner (February 28, 2025), and a morning meeting with field partners (March 1, 2025). You will get to meet with your mentors in-person and learn about what God is doing around the world.
When are applications due?
All applications are due by January 1, 2025.
What is the next step after I submit my application?
After completing your application, a JF staff member will contact you to set up an interview via Zoom.
Will I be able to contact home while overseas?
Yes! You will be able to contact your family and friends. You will have your cellphone, and Wi-Fi is provided within the trip cost. Please note that internet access is limited and may be unavailable at times.
What happens if I get sick?
It’s never fun to be sick, especially far away from home. Let your mentor and host family know if you feel unwell, and you will receive proper medical care, including doctor visits, medication, and more. You must tell your mentor as soon as you feel unwell. Your mentor will provide guidance to obtain proper medical care. Emergency medical insurance is included in your trip cost.
Can I pick my location? How will that work?
In the application, please indicate your top 3 choices, and we will do our best to fit you where you want to go; matching your interests and gifts with the best location.
Will I be a good fit for this?
Yes! God uses all of us with unique gifts. It’s great to keep an open mind, be flexible, and be willing to learn! All of these locations have different opportunities to use your gifts and passions.
